If
you enjoy bird watching, whether you're an accomplished lister, a novice, or just
want to "get your feet wet" in the country's second-most popular pastime, The
Stanton Bird Club is for you. Even if you just love the natural world and
being outdoors, we have a lot to offer. Our membership includes foresters,
botanists, naturalists, wetland specialists and wildlife artists. Regular Club
meetings cover a wide range of topics about the natural world, from
seaweed farming in the Gulf of Maine or birdwatching Downeast, to traveling and
birding in the Galapagos or "down under" in Australia. Birding
trips are scheduled throughout the year, especially during the height
of the spring migration in May. Other trips might find us canoeing down a lazy
river in the Fall, or admiring the wildflowers at a botanical preserve.
By joining the Stanton Bird Club you will be helping to support the many educational
and outreach programs we offer. You will also be helping to fund the stewardship
and habitat enhancement projects at Thorncrag
Nature Sanctuary, an "island oasis" in an urban sea. The
Stanton Bird Club is not affiliated with any other conservation organization.
We depend entirely upon membership contributions. Therefore we urge you to join
at the highest membership level that you can afford. Your contribution will be
put to good use. In addition to the good feeling you will get from knowing
you are helping a long-established grass roots organization, you will also receive
the Club's quarterly newsletter, The Chickadee Chronicle,
as well as receive discounts on bird supplies at several area garden supply stores
(if you're lucky enough to live in the Lewiston-Auburn area).
