Our Genealogy Data Base
Our goal is to maintain a central data base of Native Families in the Northeast (regardless of tribal affiliation) and to assist family researchers in identifying their Wabanaki roots. We maintain a genealogical data base of Native family history using Roots Magic software. Our data comes from our own research efforts and the contributions of our friends. Every week we receive contributions of new information to be added to this data base.
As of January 2005, we have collected and entered information on more than 6000 individuals who are documented Native People (primarily Abenaki), their descendants, or Native by strong oral family tradition. We have an additional 14000 individuals with some vital records on file. We have assisted more than 500 family researchers with their Native research problems, connected them with distant cousins working on related family lines, provided vital records, and in some cases provided detailed multi-generational family trees.
We can assist you with your research and help you understand the history & cultural of your Native Ancestors. But, PLEASE don't ask us to assist with tribal registration. We are NOT able to assist with registration issues and we do NOT have access to official tribal genealogies.
