In New England, a short period of peace from 1699 to 1703 occurred. Queen Anne's War began in Europe in 1702. Few English settlers had time to return to coastal Maine, but those that did, suffered once again. And once again, French officers, French weapons, and Jesuit Priests were visibly involved in the Abenaki raids on New England.
