Q. Are you related to Joan Courson who married John Pollis an indian
A. Yes she is my sister
Q. Where does she live now
A. Her name is Dingley now - she is the wife of John Dingley a fisherman at West Bath now
Q. Do you remember the time your sister married Pollis
A. I remember the marriage - The marriage was without the consent of her father and mother - They were regularly published and married
Q. Why did your parents object to the marriage
A. Because Pollis was an indian. And our family are pure white
Q. Did your sister live with Pollis any length of time
A. Probably about six months - she did not live with him more than six months
Q. Did she leave him or did he leave her
A. He left her
Q. Did he get a divorce from her
A. I never heard of any divorce - and I know she never appied or got a divorce
Q. Did they ever live together again before he went into the Army
A. No they did not. He came back one time and asked her forgiveness - and wanted to live with her - but she would not live with him
Q. Did she have any children by Pollis
A. Yes one girl - she died last June here in Brunswick
Q. At the time Pollis left your sister do yo know where Pollis went
A. I dont
Q. How soon after she left Pollis or refused to live with him did she get married again
A. Is was after the war she married a man named McIntosh who had been a soldier. They did not live long together. he went away and I don't know if she got divorced from him or not. She married her present husband I have been told about three years ago. For the last sixteen years I don't know much about my sister. I have not lived near her. She was Pollis wife at the time he died - but she did not remain a widow a great while.
