John Bonapart Camp, seventy six, one of the best know Indian residents of Lake George and a descendant of an Indian chief who made the Lake George section his home years ago, died Sunday at the home of his step-sister Mrs. Asa Hastings of Lake George, where he had been ill for a brief time.
Mr. Camp was widely known as a basket maker. ....(blurred) a son of John Camp who was the grandson of an Indian chief, the latter living until he was 106 years of age. On his one hundredth birthday anniversary the chief celebrated by enjoying a long skating trip on the ice of Lake George. Besides the step-sister mentioned, Mr. Camp is survived by six sisters, Miss Margaret Darkcloud, a motion picture actress of Hollywood, Calif., Mrs. Edith Hite, Mrs. Albert Labrum, and Mrs. Mary Brown of Lake George, Mrs. Wallace Tucker and Mrs. Edward Wall of Warrensburgh. Funeral services were conducted at the Lake George Presbyterian church at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon, the Rev. Walter H. Bradley, pastor, officiating. Interment in the Lake George cemetery.
