Rosetta Stone

PLEASE NOTE: Our contract with Rosetta Stone expires on November 28, 2008. The company has notified  us that they will not be renewing wide-area network licenses to libraries.  We are currently investigating other language learning programs and will post information on the LPL Web site when we have an alternative option.

Rosetta Stone, the #1 language-learning software in the world, is made available through a cooperative arrangement between the Lewiston School Department and the Lewiston Public Library. Library card holders will be able to use Rosetta Stone to learn English, French , Spanish , German, Chinese (Mandarin) and Hebrew from any Internet-connected computer at school, at home or wherever! Used successfully by millions of people in 150 countries, Rosetta Stone uses its award-winning Dynamic Immersion method to tap the same skills people use to learn a first language, making language learning easy and efficient. Rosetta Stone is the ideal choice for ESL, helping patrons move directly without translation toward proficiency in the four essential language skills - listening, speaking, reading and writing.

Rosetta StoneYou need a Lewiston Public Library card to register at Rosetta Stone and registration is required. On your first visit you will need to register, choosing a user name and password and entering your 14-digit library card number. Then when you are logged in you should check the information under the First Time Visitor tab for complete instructions. Once registered, you just log in.
