Research Services

Volunteers

The Research Department of the Maine Franco-American Genealogical Society is made up of members who volunteer their time and talent to do genealogical research for others. A fee is charged for this service to provide funds for the acquisition of additional resources. The Library is an up-to-date facility for genealogical research, thanks to our volunteers and the generosity of our members and benefactors. All research is done in our library and our volunteers are not expected to do outside research.

Canadian Resources

Our major holdings include The Blue Drouin Collection, both Men and Women, and Hard to Find Marriages on Microfilm, also the collection of Catholic Church records, indexed in Repertoires, for the provinces of Quebec, Ontario and New Brunswick in book form and on CD. We are constantly acquiring new Repertoires of baptisms and burials as well as Acadian materials.

United States Records

We have records of marriages in churches in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York & Vermont. We also have cemetery and obituary collections as well as other reference materials.
