Access point descriptions refer to river right and river left as viewed facing downstream. Only public sites or bridges are included in this list. In some areas there are other commonly used access sites on the river. Ask locally and get permission before using. Some dams have portage trails and access both upstream and downstream of the dam. Some dams do not have a practicable route around, have a unusually long carry, or do not have access. Those with reasonable access and carry routes are marked PORTAGE.

B 1. Dixfield River Access
Access is from the north side of the river, (river left) off of the Dixfield Rd, 1.5 miles east of the junction with Rt. 2.

B 2. Rt. 140 Canton Bridge
River access is possible here, although the bank is steep and poison ivy is present. The best choice is on the upstream side of the bridge on the south side of the river.

B 3. Riley Dam River Access/PORTAGE
On the north/east side (river left), on Rt. 140 next to the Jay/Canton town line. Both upstream and downstream access is available here,

Dixfield River Access- Pine Island/Snoopy River Access Flatwater
A little paddled section of the river, with corn and potato fields lining the banks. One portage around Riley Dam. After the Pine Island River access, there is no public access to the river upstream of the Livermore Falls Dam. Paddlers wishing to continue downstream must transport their boats downstream of the Livermore Falls Dam.
