Access point descriptions refer to river right and river left as viewed facing downstream. Only public sites or bridges are included in this list. In some areas there are other commonly used access sites on the river. Ask locally and get permission before using. Some dams have portage trails and access both upstream and downstream of the dam. Some dams do not have a practicable route around, have a unusually long carry, or do not have access. Those with reasonable access and carry routes are marked PORTAGE.

A12. Gorham access
Off Rt. 16 upstream of the railroad bridge is a concrete ramp leading to the river on the west side (river right)

A13. Gorham Highway Department River Access/PORTAGE
Off Rt. 2 at the Highway Department/Public Works sign. Upstream access on the west side (river right) above the PSNH dam (follow signs and exercise caution.) An approximately 1 mile portage trail leads back to the river along the spit of land where the Peabody River joins the Androscoggin.

A14. Shelburne Dam and Bridge
From Rt. 2 a road leads north 1/2 mile to the dam that holds back Reflection Pond. River access and parking area upstream of dam on south side (river right). There is no public access below the dam.

A15. Shelburne Double Bridges
Turn from Rt. 2 on Meadow Rd. to Shelburne. A new bridge crosses river, and on the north side (river left) is a put in and parking.

Gorham-Shelburne Quickwater-Class 1+
Logistically more complicated with several portages. Beautiful views of the Presidentials.
