The Maine Department of Environmental Protection has just published
the latest combined Dioxin Monitoring Program report, covering
the years 1997-98, which includes data for the Androscoggin River.
The results can be seen at the DEP Web site at: http://janus.state.me.us/dep/blwq/newpub.htm
The conclusions are that dioxin levels in fish continue to decline,
but more progress is needed. The Bureau of Health will come out
with new advisories by the end of March. They will be available
at: http://janus.state.me.us/dhs/bohetp/index.html
The 1999 Dioxin Monitoring Progam report will be on the Web by end of the month or shortly thereafter.
