The landscape of New England is graced by a rich heritage of natural and historic resources. Rivers and lakes, forests and farmlands, and uplands and estuaries - coupled with the region's fascinating cultural heritage - all serve to enrich the lives of residents and visitors alike.
One special corner of New England where this is especially evident is the Androscoggin River Watershed. Covering an area that includes over 100 communities in Maine and New Hampshire, the watershed encompasses a 3,500 square mile landscape that stretches from magnificent upland northern forests along the Canadian border to the ecologically-rich estuaries of the Atlantic coast
. The Androscoggin Watershed Council provides a variety of educational and research opportunities for those who wish to gain a better understanding of the area's natural and historic resources. Through its many offerings, ARWC is dedicated to fostering the protection of these resources for future generations. In short, the Council is helping to serve important environmental conservation needs of people throughout the region... and well beyond.
Everyone is welcome to attend - town officials, property owners, teachers, students, business people, conservationists, land planners, retirees, and others who wish to enhance their understanding of the natural and historic environment and how to protect it.

Institute classes, field trips, workshops, and other educational offerings are available for all those who wish to learn more about the watershed's natural and cultural heritage - and how to preserve that heritage. The Council's diverse environmental offerings are also proving valuable to those who live beyond the watershed as well.
