Androscoggin Canoe Race
As a part of the annual Source to the Sea Trek, the Androscoggin River Watershed Council along with the Rumford Parks and Recreation program will host a recreational canoe and kayak race along the Androscoggin from Hanover and Rumford on Saturday July 11th.
The race is free and open to the public and all are encouraged to participate in this fun family oriented event. The downstream race will include 10 miles of paddling and categories will be assigned to both canoes and kayaks. Registration for the race will begin at 9:30 AM at the Hanover public boat launch on Rt. 2 behind the town office. A shuttle service will be provided and an awards ceremony will take place after the paddling during a community barbeque hosted by Rumford Parks and Recreation.
For more information about the race, log on to the Rumford Town website at www.rumfordmaine.net or the Watershed Council site at www.androscogginriver.net. Feel free to contact the Source to the Sea Trek coordinator at 527-2163. Please note that all racers under the age of 18 will need to have a parent or legal guardian sign a disclaimer of liability in order to participate.
